The Massey Building and Annex Demolition Project

The subject project consists of the complete demolition of the Massey Building (166,000 SQFT area, 193 ft. high, 12-level abovegrade steel-frame structure plus penthouse and two sub-grade levels) and the attached Annex Building (2-levels) and restoration of the site to a graded area including grass and vegetation. Prior to structural demolition, extensive hazardous waste abatement including asbestos-containing materials must take place throughout all levels of the building. The project scope also includes complete demolition and site restoration of the detached residential-type structure located at 10530 Page Avenue (gray-siding 2-level above-grade structure plus walk-out basement/foundation level). Debris and waste material shall be properly segregated and recycled. The project is located within a busy Courthouse and Detention Center complex, and extensive coordination with court agencies, the Office of the Sheriff, as well as, traffic, dust, and noise control will be included and required under the scope of the demolition contract. The General Contract for this project is anticipated to be advertised for bid in Spring 2018 with bid opening in June 2018. The Contract Award Date is projected for Summer 2018, with an anticipated construction start date Summer 2018. These are estimated dates and durations are subject to change.
