Reconstruction of Bridge HL-73 on Lanes Pond Road and Rehabilitation of Lake Louise Dam

The work to be performed under this Contract consists of the reconstruction of Bridge HL-73 and rehabilitation of Lake Louise Dam. Work shall include the removal and replacement of the existing single-span timber bridge and spillway structure with a precast three-sided frame bridge structure with cast-in-place spillway walls, both founded upon a pile-supported concrete mat foundation with steel sheet pile permanent cofferdams and temporary cofferdams. The proposed work also involves the rehabilitation of the entire dam embankment including an increase in spillway size and installation of overtopping protection in the form of permanent upstream and downstream sheet pile walls to the limits shown on the plans. Sheet pile wall construction includes the installation of a concrete cap topped with 4-bar bridge railing parapet and concrete pylon or steel channel cap. Proposed improvements entail the staged demolition and removal of the existing bridge and spillway structure as well as staged installation of the bridge piles due to the proposed relocation sequence with overhead utilities. The proposed work also entails the relocation of an existing gas main, realignment, widening and profile upgrades to Lanes Pond Road, which traverses the crest of the dam embankment, as well as upgrades and the addition of a parking area on the intersecting road of Laurel Place. This work includes: construction of full depth pavement, concrete curb, concrete sidewalk, an ADA compliant curb ramp, drainage improvements; beam guide rail installation, application of nonvegetative surface, milling and overlaying of the roadway; topsoiling, fertilizing, seeding, and mulching; signing and striping; and any other incidental and necessary work shown on the construction Plans and as further described herein.
