N. 1 St Street Reconstruction

The North 1st Street Reconstruction is located along the east side of the Des Moines River and begins at the south side of the N 1st Street bridge over Soldier Creek and ends at the intersection of S. 1st Street and 1st Avenue S. The project consists of clearing and grubbing, approximately 19,500 CY of class 10 earthwork of which consists of approximately 15,000 CY of imported fill, 5,750 SY of subgrade preparation and modified subbase, the removals of foundations, pavement, and utility structures and piping, the installation of approximately 780 LF of sanitary sewer, 1,360 LF of storm sewer, 2,600 LF of water main, 4,990 SY pavement, 2,370 SY of sidewalk, together with traffic control, pavement markings, seeding, erosion control, and related work. Milestone 1: The Contractor shall substantially complete the Division 3 Site work by the 1st day of July, 2022. This item shall include all work necessary to open the site area to allow the owner to begin construction on a building. Should the Contractor fail to complete the site work by the Milestone Date of the 1st day of July, 2022, liquidated damages of Five Hundred ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed. Contractor shall fully complete the project by the 28th day of October, 2022. Should the contractor fail to fully complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per working day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract term.
