Description

As of December 2023, this project has had a ceremonial groundbreaking, however it is likely that it will go before the city commission for zoning in February of 2024. The Rome City School System plans to construct a new 6-8 middle school configured as series of classroom wings and an athletics wing with a footprint of approximately 373,000 S.F. The new buildings are to be built on a undeveloped property northeast of the existing middle school across Veterans Memorial, at the end of Three Rivers Dr. where currently school buses are parked. The academic buildings will serve grades 6-8 and will house all academic curriculum, including but not limited to; cafeteria/ kitchen, classrooms, science labs, CTAE Labs, Storm shelter, a third level media center and supporting administration space. An attached athletics building will house a competition gymnasium, an auditorium, multipurpose room, auxiliary gym, a natatorium, CTAE labs, locker rooms, and all other required support spaces. Construction will be at a minimum, 2 story with a 3-story main entry space, steel frame with CMU infill, low slope framed roof, slab on grade lower floor, slab on metal deck upper floor(s), brick, EIFS, & storefront/Curtain wall exterior facade, and interior CMU infill.
