Description

The project consists of the renovation of two patient shower rooms, one nourishment room and break room, converting a patient care room to a Nurse Manager Office, adding a staff toilet room, upgrading medical gas and electrical at patient care rooms 3127/31/33, installing smoke detectors at five locations, and design and installation of an NFPA 13 compliant fire sprinkler system. Bidder Qualifications: To be eligible for consideration of award, bidders must have the minimum experience set forth in the Supplementary Instructions to Bidders. Bidders must submit the qualification documents as an attachment to the Bid Form. Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid, excluding alternates, shall accompany each Bid. The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120). The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractors license at the time of submission of the Bid: B - General Building. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wages at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state, and local working condition requirements. Project is located at 2315 Stockton Blvd, University of California, Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, California, as shown on the vicinity map. D. Scope: Phase 2-5 of the Project consists of remodeling and upgrading multiple rooms and areas East Wing 3 RD Floor Patient Care Suite. Refer to A000 for Work Packages and A043 for Overall Work Plan. Refer to Contract Documents for complete scope of work. E. Existing building was constructed in 1967, with interior partitions constructed of lath and plaster studs. Contractor shall provide temporary supports for existing interior partitions. F. Work at the 3 rd floor will be performed in sequence per each Phase. In General, the work of the next Phase will not commence until work of the prior phase has been completed and accepted by OSHPD Field Officers. Refer to Bid Reference Document "Preliminary Phasing Plan". G. The East Wing 3 RD Floor Patient Care Suite will be occupied 24/7 by patients and Patient Care Staff. H. Work at the 2 nd floor shall be pre-coordinated minimum 30 days in advance with University's Representative & Patient Care Services. Work performed at a single 2 nd floor room will be completed before working in the next 2 nd floor room. I. East Wing 2 nd and 4 th patient care floors are occupied 24/7 by patients and Patient Care Staff. All activities that generate noise shall be coordinated with The University Representative and Patient Care Services staff minimum of 72 hours in advance. When requested, contractor will perform "sample noise tests" to be witnessed by University Representative and Patient Care Services staff. J. Contractor shall use Marquee Fire Protection (copy/paste from E7 Phase1) K. Contractor shall use WestCom for all upgrades to Nurse Call System (copy/paste from E7 Phase1) L. Above-ceiling containments (full abate within and so IORs cannot see adjacent existing work). Requests for clarification or interpretation of the Bidding Documents must be in writing and received by 4 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2023.
