Description

As of February 14, 2024, this project is in the planning phase. An architect has not been selected. A request for an architect is expected to be issued mid 2024. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. A detailed scope has not yet been released. Plans call for a mix of renovation and new addition. The 12,288-square-foot space will be demolished in the northwest area of the Marine Science Lab building, replaced by a four-story, 45,200-square-foot space. That space will have more than 20,000 teaching laboratories, along with research labs, study space, office space and a 2,000-square-foot auditorium/exhibition space. There will also be more than 40,000 square feet in the existing Marine Science Lab building to be remolded, which includes more than 900 teaching laboratories, research labs, study space, office space and campus support space. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
