Lorton Community Center and Library

construction of the Lorton Community Center and Library, located in Fairfax County's Mount Vernon District at 9520 Richmond Highway, Lorton, VA 22079. The Lorton Community Center and Library project consists of the complete renovation of the 10,000 SF Library with additions totaling 6,000 SF and the construction of a one­ story, 30,000 SF Community Center. The new Community Center will be adjacent to the Library with a shared Lobby entrance. Spaces will include reading and study areas, a basketball court gymnasium, dividable multi-purpose rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms, offices, commercial kitchen, and walk-in coolers and freezers. The total project is 46,000SF. The project also includes site work to upgrade the existing park and walking trails. The construction will be in two phases: Phase 1 -Construction of the new Community Center, renovation and additions to the Library and phased site work. The Murphy House and storage trailer remain in operation. Phase 2 - Demolition of the Murphy House and storage trailer and completion of the site work.
