Description | The Selma-Kingsburg-Fowler County Sanitation District (District) is located in Fresno County. The District collects, treats and disposes wastewater originating from the residential, commercial, institutional and industrial dischargers from the three member cities and paits of unincorporated Fresno County. The service area includes the cities of Selma, Kingsburg and Fowler and contiguous County areas. Unit processes are as follows: flow equalization; screenings; grit and scum removal; extended aeration activated sludge; secondary sedimentation; Effluent is used mainly to recharge the groundwater through percolation ponds. Biosolids are thickened by dissolved air flotation and are aerobically digested. They then are either dried on paved, under-drained sludge beds or dewatered by centrifuges. Dried biosolids are stockpiled on-site and used off site by application to privately owned agricultural land. The District serves an estimated population of 41,000. |
