Traffic Engineer Consulting Services

Traffic consultant to assist the Traffic and Parking Department for an undetermined length of time with various traffic engineering services and projects 1. Acts as consultants on projects, providing guidance in technical areas such as traffic analysis, development of design plans, roadway safety audits, technical specifications 2. Researches and plans traffic studies, including collecting data on road construction, land development, and traffic signals 3. Coordinates with outside consultants for peer reviews 4. Performs field work, most of their time generally is spent researching and analyzing information in an office setting 5. Acts in a Project Manager role and spends time in the field or meeting with contractors and government officials. 6. Check specifications for adherence to engineering standards of MUTCD. 7. Check specification for adherence with Mass Dot Regulations relating to speeds, truck exclusions, safety zones ect 8. Manages the review of contractors' engineering design drawings for meeting standards on geometric design, signing, pavement markings and detours. 9. Develops or reviews the contractor's traffic management plan for construction of roadways and construction projects. 10. Works in close coordination with all departments within the City. 11. Reviews and recommends detours of traffic and routing for expedient and effective operations. 12. Participates in major technical decisions related to traffic engineering.
