Jetty Construction Located on Tangier Island, VA

Jetty Construction located on Tangier Island, VA: project consists of building a jetty structure along the northern channel entrance on the west side of Tangier as an effort to help stop erosion on the island. Construction of the jetty will include constructing approximately 685 foot of jetty structure consisting of Type 1 (VDOTRBS) riprap/armor stone, Class III (VDOTRBS) riprap/core stone, placement of geotextile fabric, placement of marine mattresses, placement of excavated material in an adjacent placement area, and any incidental work related to construction as well as pre and post construction surveys of the project area. The project will require use of a turbidity curtain and/or AquaDam during construction. The project will have approximately 260 feet of jetty structure constructed on or near land in a marsh/shoreline environment and approximately 425 feet constructed in deeper water. The maximum width of the jetty structure is approximately 71 feet.
