Description

Design-Bid-Build, Renovate Bldg 102 - Naval Air Station Oceana, Dam Neck Annex, Chamberlain Hall: - RM17-0429 – This project proposes a renovation of existing Building 102, Chamberlain Hall, Dam Neck, Virginia, to accommodate United States Fleet Forces (USFF) Live Virtual Training Operation Center and Navy Continuous Training Environmental (NCTE) mission. The building is approximately 46,378 SF in area. current facility is to be reconfigured to accommodate evolving mission of B102 users. Repairs include all exterior doors, windows, and louvers will be replaced to comply with ATFP requirements. Some existing window and louver openings will be filled in with equivalent thickness CMU and finished with parging to match existing adjacent surfaces. Most of the scope of work is reconfiguration of interior non-load bearing partition walls, replacement of fixtures, and replacement of finishes. Existing restrooms will be demolished and new restrooms will be ADA compliant. The first floor renovation will contain a partial Control Access Area (CAA) and will contain a secure grouping of spaces. ESS controlled access will be required for most of these spaces. Repair of fire protection systems includes sprinkler heads and release devices. Repair sprinkler water supply equipment and piping. System riser will be configured as required to provide a new backflow preventer. The existing fire alarm system will be replaced with a new fire alarm and mass notification system. Site improvements include removal of vegetation and parking to establish ATFP standoff clearance around the building. Restripe the parking lot servicing the building. Repair select concrete pavement around the building for dumpster pad and delivery service area. Repair sanitary sewer service lines and water service lines and hydrants servicing the building. Repair of electrical systems include the following: Existing transformers, switchgear, and panel boards will be replaced. Existing medium voltage feeder will be used to serve new pad mounted transformer. Site lighting for exterior and special security including underground distribution, hand-holes, grounding, fixtures and controls will be provided as required for a complete and usable system. Backup power generator shall be provided for the total load of the building. A complete lighting system will be provided consisting of exit and emergency lighting as well as area lighting consisting of solid state LED lighting. Interior electrical system consisting of service entrance wiring and equipment, distribution and panel-boards, dry type transformers, conduits, feeder and branch circuits, HVAC equipment, lighting and branch wiring, communications, security and alarm systems, emergency lighting and power, and grounding. A complete lightning protection system will be provided. Audio/Visual systems, Electronic Security Systems, and Intrusion Detection System and telecommunication systems. Removal of all mechanical systems. Primary heating and cooling source for the building is Water Source Heat Pumps. Two new supplemental natural gas fired condensing boilers located in the mechanical rooms will be provided. Computer rooms will have CRAC units, with humidifiers, to maintain design conditions within the space. - Asbestos abatement and mold remediation.
