Description

**As of July 28, 2022 , this project has not yet been awarded. The project is expected to be awarded on late August 2022.** The Huntsville City Schools is seeking sealed bids from General Contractors to provide labor, installation, and materials for Seven Separate Playgrounds at ASFL, Blossomwood, Huntsville Jr. High, Mcnair, Morris Elem., Mt. Gap Elem., Whitesburg Elem., Huntsville, Alabama. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered. Bidders are to be licensed in the City of Huntsville, County of Madison, Alabama and must possess all insurance as required in the bid documents. A certified check or bid bond payable to Huntsville City Schools in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds will be required before work can commence. Site visits to the remaining campuses will take place immediately following the pre-bid conference. It is the responsibility of the bidder to assure that bids are presented at the time of the bid if they choose to mail the bid. Potential and successful bidders will adhere to all rules and regulations of the Alabama State Licensing Board for General Contractors and the Alabama Public Works Law. SCOPE: The work included consists of furnishing all materials, labor, transportation, and equipment necessary to furnish, deliver and install on site, seven (7) playgrounds at the above-mentioned sites: with surfacing, borders and ADA access ramps as shown on drawings and/or specifications herein, including supplementary or miscellaneous items, appurtenances, and devices incidental to or necessary for a complete system installation. There will also be some site grading, drainage, pea gravel removal and relocation of existing equipment implemented into the new layouts. Equipment/surfacing specifications are listed in attachments. Timeline for this project is for full completion of each campus 180 days from the issue of purchase order. Contractor to guarantee delivery of all equipment within 16 weeks of purchase order. Special Conditions: Where both Instructions To Bidders (ITB) and Special Conditions relate to the same thing, the Special Conditions will prevail; that is, the specific language will take precedence over the more general wording, however where both the ITB and Special Conditions may be give reasonable effect, both are to be retained. Unless otherwise stipulated, the Contractor shall furnish all material, equipment, tools, labor, transportation, other services or facilities and incidentals for the proper execution and completion of the Work. All materials and equipment incorporated in the work shall be new. All labor shall be performed in the best and most workmanlike manner by persons skilled in their respective assignments or trades. Workmen whose work is unsatisfactory to the Operations Construction Maintenance Manager, Principals, Huntsville City Schools (HCS) Procurement and Special Education Director or who are considered unfit or unskilled, or otherwise objectionable, shall be dismissed upon notice from the HCS Procurement Director. These specifications represent a standard of effectiveness and efficiency, which has been determined to be the most pleasing to the Huntsville City Schools, herein referred to as the Owner, and are a minimum standard of quality in structure and assembly that will be accepted. The Owner has decided that the features detailed herein are the most desirable as determined by the Owner's research of various playground systems available on the open market and are what would best serve the owner's interests.
