YARS Assault Strip Widening

Widen both sides of the assault strip runway with approximately 26,000 SY of new asphalt concrete pavement. Remove existing asphalt shoulders, existing lighting, existing panels, existing subsurface drainage layer collection system. Extend the assault strip by constructing new 15-foot-wide asphalt concrete sections on both sides. Construct new 10-foot-wide asphalt concrete shoulders sections on both sides. Reconstruct 4 taxiway intersections with the assault strip to match the new pavement grades and transition to the existing taxiway grades. The new asphalt concrete section will include base material, drainage layer, and asphalt concrete. Install new drainage layer collection system with outlets. Modify existing surface drainage to add detention volume. Grade earthwork to connect newly widened runway to existing ground. Seed new earthwork areas. Install new lighting system and visual panels. Connect new lighting to existing electrical system. Phase construction to complete taxiway crossing for private users to main airport runway first. Improve temporary construction access to site and install temporary signage and markings.
