Description NORTH GATE: 1. Remove the existing gates, cut into 4 foot sections and dispose of at the Dover AFB Recycling Center. 2. Provide and install new wrought iron high security gates to match the existing gate dimensions and coatings including the existing colors. Finish shall be factory applied and powder coated to withstand the elements. Each gate half shall be topped by a one foot tall barbed wire outrigger. Each half shall also have foldable bottom extensions to secure the area below the gate halves. 3. Provide and install keeper latches and receivers to ensure the swing gates can be secured in both the open and closed positions. The latching system may be designed similarly to the existing latching system. 4. Each wrought iron gate shall have an upper and lower channel to allow a 3/4" diameter wire rope to be pulled through both the top and bottom channel. Loop the wire rope back on itself and properly secure with clamps to form a 2 inch diameter bottom and top loop where the gate halves meet in the center. Secure each wire rope end to a concrete anchor of at least 2 CY of concrete buried and topped with topsoil and sod. 5. Fabricate a one inch diameter lynch pin from a steel dowel. Ensure lynch pin has a hole in the bottom to accommodate a padlock or cotter pin. Coat pin to match gate color. 6. Paint/repaint new parts and reassembled parts to match existing gate color scheme. Do not paint wire rope, clamps or eye portions of the eye bolts. Color shall be either Eagle Feather Tan of Bald Eagle Brown, as appropriate. 7. Bolts and Nuts shall be regular hexagon-head bolts, ASTM A 307, Grade A; with hex nuts, ASTM A 563; and, where indicated, flat washers. 8. Eye Bolts: ASTM F 1554, Grade 36. Plain Washers: Round, carbon steel, ASME B18.22.1. 9. Wire Rope Clamps: 3/4 inch wire rope clamp, Type I, galvanized, in accordance with FS FF-C-450. 10. Wire rope: Provide 3/4" diameter 6 strand galvanized cable with 19 wires per strand with an independent wire rope core. Cable shall be manufactured from extra improved plow steel with a braking strength of 58,800 pounds. Swaged Ends: Terminal, wire rope, swaging, fork end and or eye end, galvanized, in accordance with MS MIL-T- 6117. Cable shall have a class A galvanized finish in accordance with ASTM A 475. 11. All cable system components shall meet a braking strength of 58,800 pounds. 12. Provide traffic control or MOT safety devices throughout the construction to ensure safety of workers and safe, smooth traffic flow. Commercial Gate (Option): 1. Secure each wire rope end to a concrete anchor of at least 2 CY of concrete buried and topped with topsoil and sod. 5. Fabricate a one inch diameter lynch pin from a steel dowel. Ensure lynch pin has a hole in the bottom to accommodate a padlock or cotter pin. Coat pin to match gate color.
