Description

Sealed bids are hereby solicited for construction of the Fairfax County Park Authoritys Mount Vernon RECenter Renovation and Expansion located at 2017 Belle View Boulevard, Alexandria, VA 22307. Only firms that have been pre-qualified will be eligible to submit bids for this project. The work includes: The expansion includes a two-story fitness addition (34,000 square feet (SF), an ice rink addition (approximately 32,000 SF), and an elevated jogging track (6,200 SF). Renovation and upgrades to the existing (61,400 SF) facility include pool area renovation and equipment replacement as well as updating the existing ice rink facility. The site work includes site development work, parking area improvements, and a VDOT street vehicle turn lane. The construction scope also includes upgrades and replacements of the existing interior finishes, A/V systems upgrades, modifications to the existing security systems, and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure upgrades. The facility will remain closed throughout construction. This is a lump sum Contract. The Contract Time duration will be 750 calendar days. All bidders shall comply with Contract Section A including Article A-21, Fairfax County Construction Safety Resolution. Bidders request for determination of eligibility to bid must be received by the County in accordance with provisions shown in Contract Section A, Information For Bidders. Bidders are to note that submitting a bid indicates acknowledgement that the subject project (the Work) includes mandatory General Contractor compliance and timely execution of all responsibilities and reporting requirements shown or referenced in the Fairfax County Prevailing Wage Ordinance and Virginia Code 2.2-4321.3 (latest editions). All questions concerning the project shall be electronically submitted in writing to the Director, Building Design and Construction Division, Department of Public Works and Environmental Services, at the following e-mail address building@fairfaxcounty.gov and, to be given consideration, must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of the bids. This office is the only point where information will be disseminated. Bid Security must accompany each proposal in accordance with Information for Bidders. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after the opening thereof. The procedure specified under Section 2.2-4330(A) (i), VA Code Ann. shall apply: the bidder shall give notice in writing of his claim of right to withdraw his bid within two (2) business days after the conclusion of the bid opening procedure. The Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities and irregularities in bidding, and to accept bids which are considered to be in the best interest of the County.
