Description | It has been determined that two sections of the project have different existing pavement sections and will require different methods of preparation prior to resurfacing. Section 1, identified in red on the site map, has about 1.5” of existing asphalt with a thin base. Section 2, identified in blue on the site map, has about 3.5 to 4 inches of existing asphalt. The project scope will include, but may not be limited to: ? Four-inch depth asphalt patching (Section 1): At 22 pre-determined locations shown on the site map at the end of this document (and as marked at the site) totaling 517 square yards, the contractor shall remove existing asphalt and base/subgrade material to a depth of four inches and replace with compacted 9.5 mm or 12.5 mm Superpave asphalt. ? Asphalt leveling course (Section 1): after completion of patching as described above, contractor shall install a leveling course consisting of 9.5 mm SP asphalt (75 lb/sy). ? Asphalt milling (Section 2): to minimize the elevation transition from the surface of the new paving to the asphalt within the existing concrete gutter and to sewer manhole rings/covers, the contractor shall mill the existing asphalt a depth of 2 inches from gutter to gutter within the blue Section 2 area shown on the site map. The contractor should include the cost of hauling the millings to a city-designated location within 2.5 miles of the site. No milling will occur within Section 1. ? Install 9.5 mm SP asphalt to the patched/levelled or milled project area (both red and blue areas on the site map). The average street width is 23.4 feet. Longstreet Circle has one eyebrow cul-de-sac in the northeast corner of the site; Hopkins Court has a loop cul-de-sac with a curbed interior island, and Longstreet Court has cul-desac with no island. ? Install 24”-wide white thermoplastic traffic stop bars at four locations as shown on the site map. |
