Description

This project is a design-build construction that will rehabilitate the Headquarters East water system which includes the Moraine Park Campground (MPCG) water distribution systems. The Park Headquarters East Water System and MPCG provides camping opportunities and potable water and fire flows/storage for campers staying at the 244 summer and 77 winter campsites, five comfort stations, ranger station, concessionaire-operated livery, park seasonal quarters, and private in-holder residence. The majority of the existing water distribution system and water storage tanks were installed in 1965 and are well past the components typical service life of 30 years. Repairs to the existing galvanized steel and cast-iron distribution at Moraine Park have become more frequent. The waterlines and components of the Moraine Park Water System are in very poor condition, primarily due to age and deferred maintenance. Several portions of the system are not buried to the appropriate depth and are thus subject to freezing and require monitoring to prevent problems.
