Description

Design, build, and deliver one (1) pre-engineered, elevated free span boardwalk; constructed of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP), including delivery/freight. The existing timber bridge to be replaced with the free span boardwalk is located in an area inaccessible to large equipment, therefore, the proposed boardwalk must be delivered in pieces (as a kit) and be able to be transported to the site and assembled on-site. All pieces must be lightweight, maintenance-free, person portable, and easy to assemble and erect. The free span boardwalk must arrive unassembled and with detailed instructions for assembly. The boardwalk shall have a clear span of 44’-0”, shall be 4’-0” wide (inside dimension), and shall have a 42” minimum and a 47” maximum handrail extending the entire length of the boardwalk. The boardwalk needs to be able to carry an 85 psf live load, a 120 psf snow load, and a 25 psf wind load. The boardwalk shall include straight ends and include a standard top cap with solid color paint coatings. The boardwalk shall include safety mid-rails (per ADA specifications, 3-3/4” maximum spacing), include a Standard A307 hot-dipped galvanized steel hardware kit, be a standard color (Olive green is acceptable), and have a standard dead load camber design.
