Description

https://www.spartnerships.com/newsletter/current/tgi.html - The city of Fort Worth is embarking on a major expansion project for its convention center with the start of the design phase scheduled for May and construction is expected to start in the second quarter of 2023. A 2019 market and feasibility analysis recommended expansion of the prime exhibit space from 182,000 square feet to as close to 300,000 square feet as possible. By creating this space, the Convention Center can host either one mid-sized to large-sized convention or two simultaneous small-sized to mid-sized conventions. It also recommended the development of a 60,000-square-foot ballroom to offer the greatest opportunity to make Fort Worth more competitive and able to meet the market's needs. Phase 2 will be to demo the existing arena and build back a new exhibit hall, ballroom, kitchen, and meeting room space. In addition, contractors will renovate the existing building and site. The total anticipated project cost is in the $400 million to $450 million range. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The City of Fort Worth invites the submittal of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from qualified firms interested in providing project management services in connection with the expansion of the Fort Worth Convention Center. The Fort Worth Convention Center is located at 1201 Houston Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102. The City intends to remove the existing arena and add exhibit hall, ballroom and meeting room space. The total anticipated project cost is in the $400 million to $500 million range. The anticipated scope is more completely described in the "Fort Worth Convention Center Expansion Market and Feasibility Analysis Update". The project management team will work closely with City staff and stakeholders to provide programing, planning, scoping, budgeting and scheduling for the project. The project management team will assist the City with the selection of a design team and a construction manager at risk, and provide design/construction management services. It is anticipated that the project management services and the project will be broken into phases. The project management team will act as the City's representative during the design and construction phases, so they will be precluded from self-performing any portions of the design or construction. The professional services of project management teams will be based on the AIA Standard Form 330 (Architect-Engineer Qualifications) and should include information on similar projects, proposed project staff and consultants and their qualifications, and client references with names, titles, telephone numbers, project names, and other pertinent data. The SOQ is limited to 36 pages total. Cover letters will not count as part of the total page count. A selection team consisting of members from the Public Events Department, Property Management Department and stakeholders will review and evaluate the written responses to the Request for Statements of Qualifications (RFQ). The evaluation criteria will include the following Project Management Experience Convention Center Experience Projects of Similar Scale and Complexity Ability to Define Project Scope and Phases Ability to Budget Projects and Understanding of the Construction Market Ability to Schedule and Coordinate Complex Projects Description of Tools and Techniques used to Manage Project Experience with Projects in the Fort Worth Market Resumes of Key Staff that will be Assigned to the Project The team will select up to five qualified project management firms to proceed to the interview stage of the evaluation process. During the interviews, teams are expected to expand on the information provided in the SOQ as it relates to the preceding evaluation criteria. Teams should be prepared to present relevant case studies demonstrating their process and abilities.
