Description

Conduct cleanup work at contaminated sites throughout the state. Professional services are required to assist the Illinois EPA in obtaining closure at various Leaking UST sites throughout the State. Leaking underground storage tanks (USTs) are a significant source of environmental contamination and may pose the following threats to human health and safety: fire and explosion, inhalation of dangerous vapors, contamination of soil and groundwater, contamination of drinking water, and contamination of streams, rivers, and lakes. An UST includes the tank, all piping and any part of an UST system that contains a regulated substance. By definition, any system having ten percent or more of the total tank volume below ground is considered to be an UST.
