Description

1. Facilitate an appropriate density of urban infill development; 2. To provide housing that meets the diverse needs of the City, offering options for a mix of ages and incomes with priority given to developments that incorporate affordable housing; 3. Strives to further diversify Ashland’s existing housing stock in terms of density, accessibility, affordability and populations served; 4. Can include a variety of ownership opportunities including rental housing, rent-to-own, community land trust, or other creative housing types which help expand affordable access to property rental and ownership; 5. Creates additional housing to support identified community needs (see attached 2018 Housing Study), including housing that is attractive and accessible to seniors and supports aging in place, rental and ownership options for young families, and/or supportive housing or housing that includes some level of services; 6. Design approach that integrates the development with the surrounding neighborhood area and anticipated commercial development, enhances community character, and provides connectivity; 7. To provide a development that is sustainable, including environmentally sensitive, energy efficient, and with appropriate stormwater management to protect water quality of the existing floodway on site which leads to Lake Superior; and 8. To generate additional tax base that positively contributes to Tax Incremental District #9 in which the property is located.
