Mondawmin Elevator Replacement

For the construction, removal, and replacement of two elevators at Mondawmin Metro Station including any equipment that has outlived its useful life and a redesign of both elevator enclosures. Work includes but is not limited to the metro station’s street elevator (EL-01) which connects the Street Level to the Mezzanine Level, its Machine room and its enclosure and access stair, and the impacted bus waiting canopy, as well as the station’s platform elevator (EL-02) which connects the Platform Level to the Mezzanine Level and it’s Machine Room located on the Ancillary Level. The work includes, but is not limited to: Selective demolition of the EL-01 traction elevator and EL-02 hydraulic elevator. This includes the salvaging of equipment that has been deemed re-usable by the MTA. Demolition and/or dismantling of EL-01’s concrete, glass, and metal headhouse building and impacted bus canopy area. With the exception of any salvaged equipment, EL-01 shall be reconstructed with a new cab, hoist way enclosure at the street and mezzanine levels, and headhouse. The cab and hoist way shall be upgraded to meet current ADA requirements, and the Machine Room shall be again located above the hoist way. EL-02’s hoist way enclosure and select equipment shall be demolished for a newly designed enclosure. Structure supporting the hoist way enclosure shall remain intact and re-used. The Machine Room on the Ancillary Level shall receive new equipment to replace all outdated equipment to be removed. The elevator cab and new hoist way enclosure shall be ADA compliant. The traction elevator shall be sprinklered at EL-02 as required by current codes.
