Description

The High Does Radiation Relocation project (The “Project”) includes relocation of the HDR treatment from the Radiation Oncology Center to the 3rd floor of the main hospital building. High dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy refers to the internal delivery radiation delivered with a remote after-loading (HDR) unit containing a high dose rate radioactive source. Radiation Oncology is seeking significant improvements in process efficiency for HDR therapy, improving patient safety and comfort throughout the treatment process. HDR therapy procedure space is ideally located “in-house” adjacent to the resources located in the main hospital. Confining all procedures to one site allows the ability to maintain anesthesia/analgesia throughout the entire process. The HDR radioactive material stored in the brachytherapy treatment room is not properly secured against theft or tampering. The project will work with Grady radiation safety to address this during the design process. The current HDR treatment suite includes the HDR treatment room and a control alcove, totaling 253 square feet. An ideal HDR suite includes the treatment room, procedure room, recovery bay, control room, and dressing room. The project will renovate two (2) existing 3rd Floor angiography imaging and control room spaces totaling 1328 sq ft to achieve the operational and space objectives. If you wish to provide a qualifications proposal, please send an email to LEMeek@gmh.edu by March 17, 2021 indicating your intent to submit a proposal, noting whether your company will be submitting as a Design Industry Professional or Construction Industry Professional. Proposals shall be submitted as individual partners, either Design or Construction, to be partnered/teamed at a later RFP stage.
