Description | Project Description The Combo Hocking County Stream Captures project will mitigate six abandoned mine features in Ward Township. This project will occur at four different sites. Each site will be accessed from Jobs-New Pittsburg Road west of Murray City. The sites are as follows: Brush Fork J-Hook Stream Capture, HC-Wr-46 (1 Mine Opening) This site will require the installation of one Light Duty Bate Gate, an earthen berm and a rock lined channel and will eliminate a stream capture. Access will be via Oil & Gas access roads and abandoned logging roads. Brush Fork Vertical Stream Capture, HC-Wr-47 (1 Vertical Mine Opening, 1 Subsidence) This site will require the installation of Polyurethane Foam (PUF) inside a vertical opening and an Encapsulated Aggregate Plug (EAP) in the subsidence and will eliminate a stream capture. Additionally, stream channel will be constructed from the abandoned mine features to the JobsNew Pittsburg road drainage system. Brush Fork Horizontal Stream Capture, HC-Wr-48 (2 Mine Openings) The Horizontal Stream Captures are separated into two sites, 1 & 2. Each mine opening will be closed with PUF and a stream channel will be constructed over the sealed opening eliminating two stream captures. The stream channels will be connected to down-stream tributaries. Each site will be accessed by a common staging area. Brush Fork School Bus Stream Capture, HC-Wr-49 (1 Mine Opening) This site will require a temporary stream crossing, excavation on steep grades, backfilling a mine opening with on-site soil, constructing a stream channel and will result in the elimination of one stream capture. The stream channel will connect to Brush Fork. |
