Description

Perform the historic restoration and rehabilitation of a 2,200 S.F., 1739 Colonial Farmhouse, and Construct a new 800 S.F. Visitors Center and Instructional facility and associated site work. Restoration of Main House: Demolition of deteriorated roof shingles, rear walls, bathroom and mechanical rm., kitchen ceiling, front porch and other intermittent deteriorated elements, Reconstruction of the north wall, kitchen ceiling and framing and front porch, Repair of intermittent deteriorated elements, Reconstruction of the roof plane and shingles, including structural amendment to the existing rafter structure, Stabilization of the attic knee walls to resist outward roof thrust, Insulation of the building envelope. Construction of New Visitors Center: Concrete foundation and slab, Conventionally framed wood walls and roof, Wood clapboard exterior finish and gypsum wallboard interior finishes, Wood windows and doors, Asphalt shingle roof. Site Work: Re-grading of the perimeter of the Main House to divert water from foundations, Repair of existing stone walls and other site features, Establishment of permeable surface paths, Perimeter fencing and gates, Driveway gates and signage, Enlargement of parking area and re-paving. Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Utility: Re-establishment of new water, gas, electrical, sanitary and storm water utilities to the buildings, New point-of-entry Mechanical Rm. in the Visitors Center, Remote heating and cooling coils in the Main House, New building and site lighting.
