Description

The Contractor shall: A. Furnish all materials, labor, equipment, supplies and permits to provide services on an as needed basis. B. Supply all labor, material, equipment and services incidental to the accomplishment of the work assigned except the following. Labor and materials used shall be billed at the rate bid. Equipment up to and including the items listed below are considered overhead items covered under the labor rate bid. Overhead equipment: 1. All trucks, personnel and tool transport equipment 2. All hand tools customarily employed in the plumbing trade 3. Plumbing distribution system forming, insulating and installation equipment 4. Ladders and scaffolding when required 5. Mileage C. Be able to provide full-service plumbing support services for plumbing systems and components. The primary emphasis shall include, but not limited to the following: 1. Pipe joints and connections 2. Trap cleanouts and backflow valves 3. Interceptors 4. Plumbing fixtures, fixture fittings and plumbing appliances 5. Hangers and supports 6. Indirect waste piping and special wastes 7. Water supply and distribution 8. Sanitary drainage systems 9. Vents and venting systems 10. Storm water drainage 11. Tests and maintenance D. Provide services that include, but not limited to, general repairs, maintenance functions, equipment replacement, new installations, equipment overhaul and emergency service. E. Provide phone number(s) for service requests to enable contact with the appropriate contractor's representative on a daily basis. Contractor shall notify the City within 24 hours of any change to the contact phone number(s). F. Respond to calls as follows: 1. Emergency service shall be rendered only when required to keep the system in proper operation and when due to the critical nature of the location or need, such service shall not be delayed until the next normal working day. Emergency service shall be provided on a 24 hour, seven (7) days a week basis. Contractor shall have a mechanic at the job site within three (3) hours of an emergency call. 2. Non-emergency service calls shall be answered within 24 hours unless otherwise notified by the City. G. Consider regular work hours as between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. H. Obtain all permits and inspections that may be required on assigned work. All work shall be in compliance with all applicable national and local quality and safety codes (e.g. NFPA, NEC, BOCA National Mechanical Code, BOCA National Plumbing Code, etc.) whether or not permits are required. All work not meeting code shall be corrected by the contractor with no cost to the City. I. Provide quality work from the aspects of functionality, durability, and aesthetics as appropriate. The City of Chesapeake will remain the sole judge of the acceptability of all work performed. Any work deemed not acceptable shall be redone by the contractor at no cost to the City until an acceptable level of work is achieved. All work shall be conducted using only the best commercial and workman like practices and only new materials of the highest quality shall be used in the execution of this contract. J. Provide only the manufacturer's suggested repair parts for each application. Any deviation from OEM parts shall be approved by the Public Works Department / Municipal Facilities Maintenance Division. K. Provide a status report prior to 10:00 a.m. to the point of origin on all projects, work requests and assignments until successful completion of the project
