Powell Creek Bypass Canal Water Quality Improvement

The construction and the upgrade of Lee County’s Powell Creek (Old Bridge) impoundment. The project shall provide water quality improvements to Powell Creek Bypass Canal and the Caloosahatchee through the repurposing of the existing impoundment into a filter marsh. The construction includes the regrading of the impoundment bottom and berms, addition of an internal berm, structures, pump station, and the reestablishment of access road over the canal. consists of construction of a filter marsh area via improvements to an existing impoundment, a new outfall to the south, addition of a storm water pump station and associated storm water infrastructure. This retrofit includes the removal of the existing outfall structure on the east side of the impoundment. the existing dirt maintenance road with gravel at existing grade and constructing an adjacent water quality swale to treat runoff from the road. Additionally, box culverts shall be placed in Powell Creek to allow the access road to cross over the bypass canal.
