Description | This project will relocate the current anatomy lab facility (located in UGA Building 1066) to space in the former large animal teaching hospital (the northeastern end of building 1070). After relocation to the new building, the existing lab space of roughly 7,000 gross square feet will be increased to roughly 17,000 gross sf and would include a new overhead rail transport system, cooler, freezer, study area, lockers, restrooms, and a roughly 7,600sf lab. Life Safety and ADA accessibility issues should also be addressed as part of this project. Renovation will include a complete update of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, a new mechanical room, roof replacement, exterior envelope upgrades (re-glazing of existing sky lights), and hazardous material abatement as necessary. The proposed renovations will utilize the University’s existing chilled water and steam infrastructure and will include connections to the chilled water loop and other utility connections, as required. Mechanical systems should allow for individualized climate control in each room. The new mechanical system should support approximately 15-20 air changes an hour within the main lab, freezer, and cooler spaces, as required to maintain air quality. Additionally, as part of the scope, a computational fluid dynamics study should be completed by the Design Team to confirm desired and required air quality levels are maintained within the renovated spaces. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design-assist with subcontractors (as selected through process led by construction manager) is anticipated and the design professional will likely provide at least one component package. This may include demolition/abatement, design-assist for MEP, or other long lead items, HVAC controls, and / or other components as determined in conjunction with the Owner and construction manager. |
