Description

The proposed project is to mitigate flood damage at the Escambia County Clerk Archives building located at 120 E Blount Street, Pensacola, FL 32501. During the incident period April 28 through May 6, 2014, a severe storm system caused heavy rainfall and extensive flooding in Escambia County Florida. The entire 15,370 SF of the building was flooded. This building contains administrative offices and is for warehousing official documents. During the incident period, water entered the building over exterior door thresholds. Standing water was observed at a height of 2 inches above the finish floor elevation; flood conditions lasted approximately 12-24 hours This project will mitigate future damage to the Archives Building caused by excessive water flow as a result of a similar storm. The proposed mitigation is to dry flood proof the building. The mitigation work consists of installing (4 Ea) FEMA approved flood doors with sump pit and pumps, removing existing roll-up door by filling in with concrete block to resist water entry, elevating existing equipment and installing check valves at sanitary sewer laterals.
