Design/Build of Port of Alaska Administration Building

Design and construction of the Port of Alaska Administration Building Project using a Design/Build (D/B) delivery method. This D/B delivery method will require full design and construction of the administration building. Design will begin in January of 2022 with completion of construction planned for November of 2023. The Port of Alaska Modernization Program (PAMP) will replace and modernize the Port of Alaska’s marine terminals over five phases. The existing marine terminals have exceeded their useful life and require replacement to ensure reliable and efficient service. The reconstruction of this U.S. Department of Defense designated strategic seaport will enable safe, cost-effective, reliable, and resilient Port operations by updating and optimizing Port facilities to maintain a state of good repair now and into the future. The new administration building is a stand-alone project within Phase 2 of the PAMP. The new administration building will replace the existing facility that is supported on foundation pilings that have experienced severe corrosion. The existing facility has exceeded its useful life and is likely to experience significant damage in a major seismic event. The new administration building will be located on Port uplands to the southeast of the existing administration building and will be a three-story structure which will include a ground-floor open parking garage. The building will include approximately 10,540 sf of occupied space. The new facility will provide a new resilient office space for the Port of Alaska personnel to continue to manage Port operations.
