Martin Luther King Jr Way Residential Development

The project scope includes the new construction of 256 affordable rate units in 4 unit, two story building, 27 duplex buildings with units ranging from 1,500 to 2,400-square-feet, 134 townhomes ranging from 1,200 to 2,300-square-feet and single family homes ranging from 1,700-2,800-square-feet. Scope details have not been released. As of January 11, 2023 the project is in planning stage and seeking rezoning approval from Sarasota County. An application has not yet been submitted. Concept plans are underway. The Sarasota County Board of Commissioners approved a property sale agreement on March 29, 2022 and chose the developer on July 13, 2021. The developer will select the architect and general contractor. A construction timeline has not been determined, but is not expected to begin before 2024.
