Description | As of October 31, 2022, an architect has been selected and this project is in the design phase. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, bidding is anticipated in 3-5 months, with construction following. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Product Description may be derived from the following:- o The Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District (District) is soliciting Statements of Qualification from engineering firms to produce detailed engineered drawings and specifications for the Reconstruction of Shed 7 at City Docks located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The District uses the Facilities Planning and Control Manual drafted by the Division of Administration for project development o The District received substantial damage from Hurricanes Laura and Delta and is currently working through the planning and rebuilding process. The proposed project was identified as a critical need within the overall plan and will require an expedited schedule for both design and construction. The project will replace a storm damaged transit shed that was damaged beyond repair with a new modern structure that is designed for today's cargo needs. o The new building will require an innovative design with a goal of minimizing foundation modifications to the existing structures as well as minimal impacts to adjacent structures and rail road. o The transit shed shall be designed to handle multiple breakbulk cargos with a modern large span eliminating as many interior columns as possible. Canopy overhangs will also be incorporated over the existing rail loading docks. o The ideal firm will demonstrate experience in the design of large waterfront structures in brownfield sites. Innovate structural design approaches will be key. o At this time, the estimated construction budget is $8M. With this construction cost, the design fee is estimated at $598K District staff will evaluate the submittals and grade in each category according to the criteria. The grades will be averaged and the most qualified firm will be selected to enter into a contract with the Port of Lake Charles. Format: All Criteria shall be addressed in the order presented in the Notice. Content shall provide information and respond to the criteria described above. SoQ shall be typewritten in a readable digital formal such as PDF. Maximum of 8 pages will be allowed for the submittal. No attachments. It shall be noted that all questions regarding the statement of qualifications shall be communicated in writing or by email to Shaunna Davis by no later than November 10, 2021. After that date, no additional questions will be received and/or responded to in kind. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. |
