Special Surface Treatment and Sidewalks

This project will maintain traffic safety by resurfacing segments of federal aid eligible State highways. The locations were selected either through the Skid Accident Reduction Program (SKARP), where pavement has reduced skid resistance in wet weather conditions, or at intersections where the pavement has been observed to be uneven due to the rutting and shoving caused by vehicles braking to a stop. The objective of this project is to decrease pavement conditions that may contribute to motorist lane departures in avoidance of uneven pavement surfaces and/or wet weather skidding and the potential for crashes that those conditions could contribute to. This work will take place on select state highways in the Towns of East Fishkill, Lagrange and Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County.
