Description | A-E services to provide Conceptual Charrette Reports for the repair of the edge lights along the length of the runway, at Eielson AFB, AK. The Contractor shall furnish the personnel, services, equipment, materials, facilities, and other requirements necessary for, and incidental to, the performance of work set forth herein. Primary technical services shall be performed by individuals who are credentialed members of architectural, planning, science, and engineering professions. Disciplines include, but are not limited to, fire protection engineers, architects, landscape architects, interior designers, engineering disciplines typically associated with design and construction, cost estimators, specification writers, Computer Assisted Design and Drafting (CADD) technicians, publication writers/editors, technical writers, graphic artists, Geographic Information System (GIS) analysts, planners, urban designers, economists, and financial analysts. Personnel shall be registered in the state of Alaska and command the necessary expertise and knowledge to perform the tasks. The runway edge lights from taxiway Echo through taxiway Delta are not located to allow the full runway to be useable. In addition, the lights are not a standard distance apart on the runway, which creates an optical illusion for pilots on the final approach. When implementing RED FLAG-Alaska exercises, the B-52’s are not able to land on the first 1500 ft. of the runway, as the spacing between the edge lights (150 ft.) is too small for them and other larger aircraft. The compltion of this project will allow our multi-million dollar aircraft to land safely and expand the capabilities of the runway to meet mission requirements. The plan for the project is to relocate the lights closer to the runway to be within 10 ft. of the pavement marking IAW UFC 3-535-01 so that there is an equal 200 ft. distance in between all the lights. These modifications will also include a complete mill and overlay of the length of the runway. |
