Description | The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Pittsburgh District, is conducting market research to determine the business size and capabilities of potential sources for the installation of a 1,900-foot long waterway safety boom at Allegheny River Lock and Dam, No. 2, and a 2,100-foot long waterway safety boom at Dashields Lock and Dam to alert river users of the downstream fixed crest dams. The USACE plans to issue one Solicitation, but make separate contract awards for each site. This project at Allegheny River Lock & Dam No. 2 includes furnishing and installing the boom anchorage system; installing the floating boom system; furnishing and installing a barrel storage rack system on land; and minor land-based site improvements. It should be noted that the floating boom materials will be provided as Government Furnished Materials. The boom anchorage system is expected to be comprised of approximately twenty precast concrete gravity anchors to be placed on the river bed; anchors are expected to weigh up to 10 tons each. The barrel storage rack system will require site work to include site grading with imported soil fill, installation of new chain link fence and relocation of the existing sliding gate and electric operator. The project at Dashields Lock & Dam includes furnishing and installing the boom anchorage system; installing the floating boom system; furnishing and installing a barrel storage rack system on land; and minor land-based site improvements. It should be noted that the floating boom materials will be provided as Government Furnished Materials. The boom anchorage system is expected to be comprised of approximately twenty precast concrete gravity anchors to be placed on the river bed; anchors are expected to weigh up to 10 tons each. The barrel storage rack system will be located within a previously developed area. Place of Performance: Allegheny River Lock and Dam No. 2 (7451 Lockway West, Pittsburgh, PA 15206-1183). Dashields Lock and Dam (100 Dashields Lock Road, Coraopolis, PA 15108-5417). Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15222 | ||||||
