Description

On-going campus-wide infrastructure upgrades are currently underway under a separate contract. This project scope will include: (in each of the listed buildings except for Buildings 600 and 650) providing new boilers, and in some cases, new boiler rooms/enclosures, with their accompanying primary hot water pump(s) and secondary hot water pump(s) for the buildings to enable decommissioning the existing failing central underground hot water piping loop. Boiler service to buildings 600 and 650 will continue to be provided from the recently replaced boilers in the Central Plant. Existing portions of the underground central hot water piping serving buildings 600 and 650 will be retained, modified, and augmented with some new, to serve these buildings from the Central Plant, and will be disconnected from the remainder of the central hot water distribution loop. Each building receiving new boilers and systems will be disconnected from the existing central hot water distribution loop and the loop will be abandoned in place where possible. A. New fire alarm system including smoke detectors, new visual alarms and code required emergency lighting in all spaces. B. New IT closets (one each floor) located in current internal office space. C. Relocation of IT equipment from mechanical rooms to new data closets on each floor and rewiring of all cabling (currently CAT 3). D. Addition of single occupant toilet room on each floor to meet ADA accessibility requirements. Renovation of existing toilet rooms for ADA compliance could be studied during design or current janitor’s closets could be considered for conversion to a single occupant toilet room. E. Replacing all existing knob style hardware with lever style, add closers on all corridor doors (corridor walls are rated). F. Replacing all fluorescent light fixtures in the corridors with LED lights. G. Elevator control panel and corridor annunciators to be updated to current codes. H. Drinking fountains to be replaced to meet current ADA requirements. I. Change handrails in exit stairs to meet current code. J. Add hold open devices on pair of doors in corridor on each floor. K. Install new interior signage per ADA requirements. L. Replace hot water heater or recirculating pump, possibly instant hot water heater with toilet rooms addition. M. Clean and repaint steel masonry lintels on building exterior. N. Evaluate glazing and correction needed to avoid water intrusion and to enhance energy efficiency.
