Description | This Request for Proposal ("RFP") seeks to establish a contract through competitive negotiations to modernize and upgrade the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University ("Virginia Tech"), Stability Wind Tunnel located in Blacksburg, Virginia. All inquiries will be answered in the form of an addendum. Inquiries must be submitted by 3:00 PM on November 7, 2022. Inquiries must be submitted to the procurement officer identified in this solicitation. Scope of Work: This document provides background information and specifications for proposed upgrades to the Virginia Tech Stability Wind Tunnel. The upgrades include a heat exchanger system for flow temperature control, a new fan, and the control system needed to operate these. These upgrades are to be performed in concert with the demolition of Randolph Hall, which currently adjoins the facility, and the construction of the new Mitchell Hall which will enclose the facility. Demolition of Randolph Hall is expected to begin late 2023, and completion of the new Mitchell Hall is expected in 2027. Facility Overview: The Virginia Tech Stability Tunnel is a low speed wind tunnel for aeroacoustic and aerodynamic testing on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. This internationally recognized facility is a major asset to Virginia Tech and to the Commonwealth of Virginia. The wind tunnel and adjoining Randolph Hall. |
