Description | As of August 18, 2022, an engineer has been selected for the project. Per the owner, bidding is estimated for 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The project will widen Carefree Highway between Scottsdale Road and Cave Creek Road to a 4-lane arterial complete street. Project features will include a raised landscaped median, increased travel lane capacity, safety improvements at critical intersections, and a new shared-use path/trail at the south side. Non-motorized improvements on the north side will be determined by the Town of Carefree. In addition, the project will consider a roundabout at 60th St. The project limits are Cave Creek Rd to Scottsdale Rd, the project length is 1.8 miles. In some locations, right of way will need to be purchased. The project will also investigate if noise mitigation measures are considered necessary during the design phase. Roadway 10-foot wide multi use path & 8-foot wide trail on south side of roadway Landscaped median Drainage improvements including box culverts / bridges. Fiber Optic/ITS Estimated Impact: $934,328 Consistent with recent the City s Transportation Master Plan, this project will construct the section of Carefree Highway between Scottsdale Road and Cave Creek Road to minor arterial cross Section. The project is part of the Regional Transportation Plan. Funding is included in the Arterial Life Cycle Program (ALCP) in Fiscal Years 21-23. The regional funding is currently provided by the Regional Area Road Fund (0.5% sales tax). However, the construction portion of the project in FY 24-25 may be converted to federal Surface Transportation Program funding. All design documents must be prepared following current City of Scottsdale s Design Standards & Policies Manual. Design documents must also need to meet federal standards if federal funds are utilized by the city in this project.
