Description

Currently the City of Pembroke Pines has three lime sludge holding ponds at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). Each of the treatment units discharges to two (2) of the ponds for settlement and accumulation. The settled sludge accumulates and begins to dry at which time partial transfers from the two ponds are made towards the last pond (drying pond). The City believes the installation of sheet piles within the perimeter of the two (2) access/service roads will improve upon the safety of the sludge transfer operation, in addition to increasing the volume of the ponds.
