Description | This project consists of the reconfiguration of existing traffic lanes, vehicle parking, and sidewalks along Melbourne Avenue from Bean Park to Front Street and along Front Street from Melbourne Avenue to New Haven Avenue. Total project length is approximately 600 feet. Primary construction along Melbourne Avenue include reduction of travel lane width to 11-foot, constructing a 10-foot wide shared use path on the north side of the roadway, and reconstructing the existing sidewalk to 6-feet on the south side of the roadway. Primary construction along Front Street include widening to provide 14-foot to 16-foot travel lanes, providing stamped colored concrete pavement parallel parking sections, and constructing a minimum 5-foot wide sidewalk on both sides of roadway. Additional construction includes milling and resurfacing, new roadway construction, pavement overbuild, installing stamped colored concrete crosswalks, constructing curb ramps with detectable warning surfaces, curb and gutter Type F, Type D curb, light pole relocation, signing and pavement markings, and constructing raised medians. Drainage improvements include constructing new storm sewer, removal of existing drainage structures, relocation of existing manholes and inlets, and the addition of new manholes and inlets. City water main and force main relocations are required. An “Archeological monitor” will be required for work along Front Street as determined by Florida State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO). Refer to Section 10 in Division D’ of the bid documents for additional information. An alternate bid item for 6-inch concrete sidewalk has been included. All sidewalks and pedestrian facilities shall adhere to current ADA standards. All improvements under this contact shall be constructed within the limits of the existing rights-of-way. |
